How did Stephen Bunting reach the top?
Bunting won the BDO World Masters in 2012 and 2013, then the BDO World Championship at Lakeside in 2014. He later moved to the PDC, where he reached the World Championship semi-finals in 2021 and 2025.
His first televised PDC title came at the 2024 Masters. In 2025 he won the Bahrain Darts Masters and Nordic Darts Masters on the World Series, plus the International Darts Open and Swiss Darts Trophy on the European Tour.
Why did Stephen Bunting change dart weight?
For years Bunting threw a 12g barrel, far lighter than most professionals use. He moved up to 18g darts, six grams heavier than the set he had played with for years, and his results improved after the change, including the 2024 Masters title.
Target's current Bunting range is built around that move. The 18g Generation 5 sits on a shorter 40.9mm barrel than the 22g to 25g versions, which are 47mm long, so the lighter dart keeps a compact profile.
How is Stephen Bunting playing in 2026?
Bunting played the 2026 Premier League, winning night four in Belfast and night sixteen in Sheffield, and finished fifth in the league table. He was ranked 14th on the PDC Order of Merit as of October 2026.
